Dana R. Berg, MD is the Medical Director of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) at New York Medical College / Westchester Medical Center. Dr. Berg received her B.A from Columbia University and M.D. from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She then completed her internal medicine residency at Mount Sinai Hospital, gastroenterology fellowship at New York Medical College/Westchester Medical Center, and her advanced inflammatory bowel disease training at New York University Langone Hospital
Dr. Berg's additional year of IBD training has provided the necessary expertise to diagnose and manage mild to severe forms of Crohn's disease and Ulcerative colitis. Her clinical interests within the realm of IBD, include women's healthâ€â€particularly pre-conception and pregnancy counseling, proactive therapeutic monitoring, and working with post-operative patients whether it be from an ileocolic resection or an ileal pouch-anal anastomosis (IPAA).
Throughout her IBD fellowship at NYU, Dr. Berg worked collaboratively with the colorectal surgeons managing patients with severe IBD flares, fibrostenotic and/or inflammatory stricturing disease, perianal fistulas/abscesses, and IPAA complications (e.g., pouchitis and Crohn's disease of the pouch).
Other than inflammatory bowel disease, Dr. Berg's professional passions include colorectal cancer screening and surveillance, celiac disease, reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, and constipation. She is skilled in the art of chromoendoscopy, colonoscopy, endosopic mucosal resection polypectomy, upper endoscopy, push enteroscopy, video capsule endoscopy, and fecal transplantation.
