Westchester Medical Center Welcomes Seah Lim, MD, PhD, as The Cancer Institute’s Medical Director of Hematology

Westchester Medical Center, the flagship of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), recently appointed Seah Lim, MD, PhD, as Medical Director of Hematology and Associate Chief, Division of Hematology and Hemostasis in the Department of Medicine at Westchester Medical Center's Cancer Institute based in Valhalla.

In his new role, Dr. Lim will oversee hematology services at Westchester Medical Center's Cancer Institute and will also serve as the Associate Program Director of the hospital's hematology/oncology fellowship program.

Board certified in hematology and internal medicine, Dr. Lim brings to Westchester Medical Center extensive expertise in hematology and oncology with particular interests in hematologic malignancies, stem cell transplantation and sickle cell disease. He was drawn to his field by a passion for helping others and he emphasizes the importance not only of caring for the patient medically, but also understanding the emotional and financial strains a diagnosis can place on patients and their families.

Prior to joining Westchester Medical Center, Dr. Lim most recently served as Director of Hematology at Rhode Island Hospital and Professor of Medicine at Brown University's Warren Alpert Medical School. He has also held appointments in Pittsburgh; Tulsa, Okla.; and Amarillo, Texas, where he helped to create a 501c nonprofit foundation to provide support for cancer patients who faced challenges accessing care.

Dr. Lim earned his medical and undergraduate degrees from the Aberdeen University School of Medicine in the United Kingdom and a PhD from the University of Wales College of Medicine. He completed fellowships at Queen Elizabeth Medical Centre in Birmingham, England (hematology and hemato-oncology), University College in London (hemato-oncology and infectious disease) and Cambridge University (hematology and hemato-oncology), as well as a residency at Aberdeen Teaching Hospitals in Scotland (internal medicine).

A resident of Great Neck, NY, Dr. Lim has two daughters and one son and enjoys running in his free time. He recently completed his third half marathon.
